Carbon Monoxide is odorless, but you can get detectors that plug into the electrical wall outlet to warn you if the level gets too high for human safety. These are only necessary if you have oil and/or gas heat and appliances (burning fuel). Electric heat and appliances don't generate carbon monoxide.

Well, am sure by now, that after you've read your other replies to your Question, that ONE, MAJOR factor that is absolutely a TRUE FACT, is this:
Carbon Monoxide DOES NOT SMELL! Has NO ODOR whatsoever! Is a very, DANGEROUS, SILENT, AND DEADLY KILLER. I hope you have a Carbon Monoxide Alarm installed in your place of Residence. It will literally SAVE YOUR LIFE/LIVES!
UNDERSTANDING THE RISK
What is carbon monoxide?
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and toxic gas. Because it is impossible to see, taste or smell the toxic fumes, CO can kill you before you are aware it is in your home. At lower levels of exposure, CO causes mild effects that are often mistaken for the flu. These symptoms include headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea and fatigue. The effects of CO exposure can vary greatly from person to person depending on age, overall health and the concentration and length of exposure. There is much more information for you to read on this subject, if you wish. The site I found this information on for you is as follows:
http://www.edinburgvolfd.org/Fire_Safety_Info/CarbonMonoxide.htm.
Of course, there are many more sites online you can find on this subject, also. I hope this information helps you, and hope you do have an Alarm also. God Bless and pls. let me know if this was helpful to you or not, ok? Bye fur now. Pls. email me or IM me at my Yahoo Address, ok? My email is singsalot51@yahoo.com

Oh, wow! It doesn't smell like anything, it's odorless! It is also quite sickening, and possibly deadly! I had Carbon Monoxide sickness once, and it was AWFUL! :( (I have Carbon Monoxide detectors - they don't work!!!) I felt such DIZZINESS for a long time, and didn't know why. Then I got violently ill, and it lasted a night. After I aired out the house in freezing winter, and shut the heater and pilot light off, I STILL had the dizziness, on and off, for about 3 days! IT IS NOT FUN!!! It takes a long time for that stuff to get out of your system.
If you think you have a heater that is giving it off, get it replaced! It will take months just for them to get to the job! Do it now, before everybody wants service! ~Cindy! :"(
