I hope I will not come back as your husband in my next life because I will not be able to deal with this stupidity.

I have always considered reincarnation to be unlikely but possible, perhaps done to a select few, but by no means all of us. I'll list my arguments against. This is from an answer I wrote to a similar question.
My most compelling argument would be that scientists believe the entire population of human history is less than 10.5 billion. There are a variety of methods that have led to this estimate, but I am sure you will agree with me that 30 years ago, the worlds population was at around 3 billion people. This number has doubled since then. What this suggests is that over half the people ever born in the whole of human history are presently alive. This would negate the theory that we are all reincarnatied into other human beings. I do not beieve that we come back as a lesser developed life form, for one, that would be disgusting. Imagine if a child came back as the cow slaughtered so his family could have steak. I could go on but I hope I've made my point.
My most flimsy argument would be that those of us that claim to have been here before, usually claim to be a historical figure such as Napolean or Joan of Arc, etc. People rarely claim to have been Josef, the dung collector; or Jane, the one legged prostitute. Again I could go on, but this is not that strong of an argument.
My final point would be that only recently, they have discovered in multiple cases in multiple areas, that organ recipiants can recall aspects or specific memories of the organ donor. This would suggests that a part of us is imprinted on each part of us and can survive the death of the whole. This is an amazing concept that I will be tracking in the future.
All of these points combined do not make reincarnation impossible, just rather unlikely. I hope this helps.

I have hodge-podge beliefs on this topic (like a lot of others).
Personally I think it's largely the souls choice whether it returns for multiple lives and it is the soul that determines the period it rests between lives.
So yes, I think it's possible that a soul could choose to be born as someone who would contact with their just-previous life. There are time factors involved though, just being born and growing into adolescance/adulthood could be too late to try and influence the person you wanted.
I do think that we are drawn to people who we have had contact with in previous lives. A soul-mate as it were. This is not necessarily a romantic relationship and sometimes it's a fleeting one - just for some reason it's important that you see or meet or be close to these particular people/souls.
And since I'm in a story mood, a brief story.
I was in a particularly dark period. My relationship had gone wrong, I had moved an hour away from work to live, money was tight, my friends didn't take my side, just blah. So one night I went driving.
I was about 25 feet past the stop sign before I realized I had blown right past. The police car however, had noticed. So here I am:
** blew the stop sign right in front of him
** The MOT was invalid on my car
** my tires were blad
** and I never flopped my drivers license over from the US to UK even though it was 5 years.
He pulls me over, and I said "I'm so sorry, I'm new to the village and I didn't see the stop sign."
He nodded, said "I'm new here too. have a good night," and walked back to his car.
For some reason, I was meant to see him. I can still identify that night as the time when I really started to turn things around. (Not that it was the end of my trouble with law enforcement and my car but that's a story for another day).

We as spiritual beings (or souls) experience our growth in consciousness through a series of lifetimes in physical human form. In other words, we have been in the earth many times before, and more specifically have had close personal relationships with particular souls. Attraction to another person and thoughts of marriage could very likely be related to memory patterns (even subconscious memories!) of having been suggested that, often, we are with that soul in the distant past. attracted to a particular person for marriage in this lifetime because of such a relationship at least once before. However if reincarnation is a fact, we might expect that we have been married to many souls in the course of other incarnations. Which one of these partnerships is the best one to build upon now, in this life? Does each person have exactly one other special soul that it is meant to be with whenever possible? However, in order to learn and grow, a soul enters into the physical domain (which is characterized by such polarities as light/dark, positive/negative, thinking/feeling, etc.) and chooses to incarnate in a male or female expression. Likely, in the long-range growth of the soul over many incarnations, male and female experiences are needed. In selecting one gender over the other in a particular lifetime, a condition is usually created in which a balance or complement is needed, such as can be found in a marriage companion. This is not to say that important spiritual growth is impossible during a life without marriage; rather, the marriage relationship is one great avenue for development.
Love & Blessings

If you watch Sylvia Browne Psychic on Montel Williams every Wednesday she talks about different levels of the spirit world and we all have lived a lot of lives and in each life we learn something different to raise our spiritual growth, we go to a higher spiritual level in each life the more spiritual we each become the higher each of us will grow spiritually. It is not up to us but God if he keeps wanting us to reincarnate or take a brake for a while then come back or not come back, I feel we are going to keep coming back till each of us have learned what we are supposed to from each life we lived.

Many folks do believe in past life experiences. They seem to think that is where de ja vu comes from. Either past lives or your spirit leaving your body and experiencing things before you do to help you. Who knows, but is there such a thing as a sin free life?

The reincarnated may be anyone. The choice of timing, in my belief, is up to the soul that has left the physical and is learning and thinking on all the knowledge and wisdom learned through the cycles. The timing itself is unknown. What takes as long as you wish, may be a second in the physical, or thousands of years.

Humans are funny animals. We are energy when we die all our energy is released. Over vast untold time we will find some of that energy finding its way back into a human form. To fantasize the way you are means you miss the now, you will never know your future ever.

I believe reincarnation is a choice you can have after you die, but maybe nobody really wants to. The afterlife probably has everything there is here, and more, so that would explain why reincarnation isn't exactly common. :P
also, people, please don't give closed-minded answers like sha sha sharonna and claim yes/no because the bible (or any other piece of scripture) says so. The bible is as credible as every other religion's scripture.
