Hi guys, my mom and I just purchased a new house together, and i moved in a few days earlier before she did. One night I was just relaxing in my bedroom, I heard this music tone (i hummed the tune to my coworkers and they said its Beethoven), and I thought it was the doorbell, so I went to the door and found no one there. I then realized that I had never heard my own door bell before, so I pressed on it, and heard "ding dong".

I thought maybe it was from the neighbors. But later when my mom moved in, we heard the sound again. Now, we have heard it numerous times and it seems to occur at random hours. I found the speaker that the tune comes from: an ATW MS-32. I called the builder, electrician, and security of the house. None of them know what's going on and where that speaker is wired to.

I don't think the sound is from the fire detector, because it sounds way too peaceful..does anyone know what this might be? Any help would be greatly apprecriated! Thanks!

I don't have anything that plays radio in my house, no home phone (just cell phone), and no baby monitors....and I don't see how my cell phone freq can affect the output of that speaker...

just a side note: each time when that music plays, I noticed that the garage door is open for at least 5 minutes already. So I did a little test by just leaving the garage door open. Nothing happened for the past 20 minutes...:'(

Sounds like an intercom that's picking up a radio station. I looked up ATW MS-32 and the result was an alarm company selling an intercom speaker moder MS-32 by the ATW company. When the house was built and being framed, maybe someone thought it would be a good idea to put in a hard-wired intercom system, but didn't tell the builder or the electrician.

I would say that the intercom system isn't properly grounded, so the internal amplification circuitry is acting like an antenna and demodulating the radio signals. Somewhere in that house is an amplifier that is connected to that speaker.
