i've tried home depot and lowes but they dont have it.. its a plate/metal cover that will show the circuit breaker switches and not the wires.. its also not a box or door for the circuit breakers

btw it's the MAIN circuit breaker box not the light switch circuit breaker ones

it didnt come with any.. we're renting this house and its jus a box with the main circuit breakers inside

Try to find a label somewhere on the existing box (that holds the breakers). You should be able to find a brand name for the box ("Square D" for example).
You need to know the brand name in order to buy a new front. Ask any assistant in Lowe's or Home Depot, they should have it.

There are 2 pieces that attach to the front of the circuit panel, the door, and the panel cover (usually has a 'floating' insert).
You need to know not only the brand name, but also the model. All of the different manufacturers make different size boxes... 20 circuits, 40 circuits, etc.
The panel face cover will have tabs that you can snap out, for the individual breakers.
Most places that carry electrical supply parts will have the face plate for the circuit box. A local hardware store might have your model. If you have a box that is very old, it may be time to consider replacing it altogether.
Now.. what I wrote above this line, was assuming you were asking about a face plate for a 100 to 200 amp circuit box, like you would find in a home. If you mean a smaller box, like you would find supplying power to a single appliance, or other outside unit, then you'd want to look over in the electrical supplies department of your store, for cover plates. You can get them for different kinds of switches and outlets, and again, you need to know what kind of box this is going into... If all else fails.. take a picture of the box, and take it with you, when you go shopping.

It's called a dead front. Look for the brand name and model of the enclosure (panel) on a tag inside or on the door. There should also be a phone number for the company on the tag. Where did the old one go?

Check the phone book and find an electrical contractor and ask them to order one for you. You may need to give them the size of the box or other forms of information.

find the name of the box,it should be on one of the sides.Open the yellow pages and look under electric supplys and call and ask untill you find one who has it. ( by the way-this is something that the owner should have taken care of-send HIM/HER a copy of the invoice and ask if they want to either send you a check to re-imburse you or if they want you to take it off your rent check? )

try a electric store that sells to contractors, you should be able to buy one there or find a houseing dev. that is working in the area and talk to one of the guys, they might have one and it would be real cheap then.

If all else fails try a metal fabrication shop. They could make you one though probably not as cheap as a factory built one.
