Since then, the contract has come under scrutiny by members of Congress, and critics have alleged that KBR had an advantage in winning the 2001 contract because Vice President Cheney had been Halliburton's chief executive.

There have been other allegations of overcharging and poor record-keeping by KBR and lax oversight by the government. Government auditors turned up more than $1 billion in questionable costs. Whistle-blowers have said the company charged $45 per case of soda, allowed troops to bathe in contaminated water and double-billed on meals -- all allegations Halliburton denied.

You're absolutely right that Halliburton has been stealing. However, Democrats also do the same thing because they fail to admit the obvious fact that all taxation is extortion.

What difference is there between a protection racket run by the mafia and taxation by the government? You could argue that taxation is distributed to "help people," but Robin Hood was still a thief, even though he stole from the rich and gave to the poor.

Yes, it isn't politically viable to admit that all taxation is immoral and is nothing more than a glorified protection racket, but it is the truth and the truth is more important than what is politically viable.

Therefore, if you wish to oppose all stealing, you must support any cuts in taxes, no matter who they are for, and oppose any increases in taxes.

I oppose all taxation as nothing more than legalized theft, all victimless crime laws as acts of violence against people engaging in peaceful activities, and all non-defensive wars (or defensive wars in which innocents are killed) as being nothing more than legalized murder. It is impossible to believe that theft and violence are wrong and to hold any other positions without being a hypocrite.

Well, a very famous Democrat said, "it depends on what your definition of 'is' is." So maybe they're taking a page from Bill's play book.

No, they are not at that stage yet. They are denying the charges at present. That is different. The excuses will come only if the chages are found to be true.
