I try, I really do. But, a lot of the ones I know do not respect me. They pry into my personal life, and make assumptions about me which are not true.
What should I do?

same here i respect my stepmother no matter how mean and disrespectful she gets i still respect her just keep in mind that you don't have like them but have to respect them and yea i know u might say they don't deserve it then tell yourself your respecting them for the sake of Allah that is what i do.

i assume your talking about your parents right?? well they can do that if your still their responsibility! don't blame them and keep respecting them always cause no matter what ..they still love you more than anyone in this whole wide world!!
and yes i respect elders very much because they are older than me and have gone threw many hard experiences in life which makes me admire them alot!
*EDIT*:well then you can't help but to respect them! if they think your bad try to show them that your not! but don't pretend just make it naturally! everything will work out over time!

i do ,i have to no matter what they sa y i always respect my elders there are full of knowledge and wisdom and most of them act like that. because , they are old and lonely ., some of them are missing they , other -one and yes they are bossy and always want to tell you what to do and some knows every-thing and some of then you just can't tell then any thing. so i have gotten a lot of pacient, with old folks; i love them i respect them no matterhow they treat me because one day i will get old too. but i promise i won't mess with people especialy the ones i love and in my family, household.. take care. be bless!!!

All human beings deserve a certain measure of respect. Beyond that....
My entire life, my elders have been the first ones to tell me that respect is something you *earn.* Fine, then earn it or don't get it, even if you are my elder.

I always show respect to people unless they give me a reason not to, but deep respect is earned not a given!!

I do try to but one thing you have to understand is that after a certain age all the look forward to is when they poop and what everyone else arround them does they often times spead incorrect rumors.

if u mean by elders uncles and there familiy so yeah me 2 i hate them and i dont care because they cause all the times hurt

I'd better respect my elders. It's getting to the point where they are becoming rarer and rarer.
