Think about the POSSIBILITIES here:

Mmm...

Yeah, I know all about the Andromeda Strain. I've read the book and seen the movie.

But this isn't like either. The satellite/spacecraft crashing in the book and the movie carried an exotic form of bacteria. This is a *meteorite*. (lol)

It's funny you say that because I thought the exact same thing when I read that news story.

The Andromeda Strain isn't the only time that plot has been used. I have read several versions. But good idea searching the news for ideas. That is a great way to come up with ideas. I use it all the time. Pax - C

It is a great book...it's called the Andromeda Strain.

These villagers aren't dying and they don't have a disease...they simply have headaches and upset stomachs after being exposed to noxious gases. Especially those who were near the crater while it was still smoldering. Big surprise there.

Could also make a great episode of the X-files. They made a really sucky movie called "Evolution" too starring agent Mulder.
"Andromeda strain" became a pretty good movie.

Yes, mmmm, since it's happening as you know. And yeah, it would make a great horror story, or one of alienation (sic) during which the village people are shunned and food becomes scarce, etc. Hmm.
