A pound is actually a measure of force (weight) whereas a kilogram is a measure of mass. To convert mass to weight you must factor in the acceleration due to gravity or 9.8 m/s^2. That yields a measurement of weight in SI units, known as Newtons, kg*m/s^2. A slug is actually a measurement of mass that is convertible to and from pounds. But in this sad sad world of sceintific ignorance, there is a "conversion" for pounds to kilograms. One kilogram is equivalent to 2.2 pounds.
