There's plenty of things to take photos of in Canberra. Such as the Australian War Memorial, Old Parliament House, Parliament House, Cockington Green, Lake Burley Griffin.

Another great place to take photos is Floriade which is on now in Commonwealth Park from Saturday 15th of September until Sunday 14th of October 2007 and entry is free.

Opening Hours: Weekdays: 9am - 5pm.
Weekends & public holidays: 8am - 6pm.
Last entry is 30mins prior to closing.

If your interested in finding out more places to visit here in Canberra please visit our tourist information website or drop into the Canberra & Regional Visitors Center on Northbourne Ave.

I actually live in Canberra and know of some great places to take photos and other places to visit as well.

The Royal National Park is not on the way to Canberra. Take a look at the Southern Highlands villages - Mittagong, Picton, Bowral etc. There are some very photogenic spots there.

I agree with Tentofield. Travel on the "old" Hume Hwy, not the freeway to Mittagong, then diverge through Bowral and Bundanoon. If you like large holes in the ground diverge to Colong Caves.

At Goulburn you should veer left, and head through Tarago, Bungendore and down to Canberra via Queanbeyan (with a possible diversion to Braidwood and even Captains Flat). That back way is more photogenic.
