same as x^2 - 3x - 4 = 0, and (x-4)(x+1) = 0, and so x = 4, -1

make the equation equal to zero.

so 2x^2-6x=8 becomes

2x^2-6x-8= 0 then divide by to 2 to make the eqn more simple

it becomes x^2-3x-4 =0

factor out
( x-4)(x+1)

so answer becomes x= 4, -1
hope that helps

rearrange:

2x^2 - 6x - 8 = 0 factor a 2

x^2 - 3x - 4 = 0

(x -4)(x+1) = 0

x = -1, 4
