If you ever see the video for 'Slipstream' {on the 'A' DVD}, Aqualung is a tramp, and looks like the sort of 'flasher' that used to hang around parks in the 1960's.

And for anyone who doesn't know - flashers and pedophiles are two very different things.


Also, around the time Aqualung was written, girls under 18 or 21 were still sometimes refered to as 'little girls'.

It seems the poor old sot doesn't have the confidence to pull a true kidnapping. My guess is he would just stay locked in his world, fantasizing about what if - otherwise he would "start away uneasy". He could expose himself, possibly, if the park were nearly empty.

Well, if he was a convicted pedophile, he would not be a homeless man on the street. He certainly has the predilection, however, and this does not rule out him having been convicted in the past, perhaps leading to being an outcast and thus on the street. It's my impression that, despite his still having eyes for underage girls in a "playground", he is no longer a current threat. It's my opinion Anderson wrote him this way so that Aqualung would not be an easy object of simple pity, more complex. and although perverse, a more interesting character.
