What is your favorite smell?

A good Italian kitchen when the meals are being prepared. Among my favourite:

pasta
garlic roasting or fried in butter or olive oil
provolone
salami
Italian beef, prepared Chicago style, with the whole sandwich dipped in the jus so the smell of the bread the juice and the meat is mixed.

I like the aromas of Guiness, a good red wine, and what you smell under the shade of the magnolia tree when the flowers bloom.

Edit: I went back and read some others, and was reminded that the smell of babies when they are nursing from the breast, that is a nice smell.

Also, I like the smell of my lover, her skin, her hair.

Some others I remember now I like are the smell of the discharge when you are at the firing range or in a gun fight, the smell of those trees in Baghdad which have the round lavendar flowers, called "eyes of the cat." I like the smell of a coffee shop like Galeria Expresso in Savannah's old Bull Street near the plaza with the cannons where the Old Highway to Augusta begins.

I'm gunna have to agree with the first answer, I love the smell of gas for some reason, it smell's really weird though. My dad has some plastic things full of gas that he puts in his lawn mower and it smells freaking good for some reason.

I'm a dad so I'd have to say a well-scrubbed baby fresh out of the bath. Especially when you consider the way they smell most of the time.

my favorite smell is my boyfriend when we wake up in the morning. i like the smell of "sleep" on him when i burry my face into his neck. it's like a manly smell that is all his and no one elses. even if we aren't together when we wake up and we get together for a walk in the morning i can still smell it on him a little.
