I think you know the answer to that question. It's not that I care about the double standard that much, but it is annoying. I've heard the clip, but why did they taser the guy? He was asking Kerry about skull and bones?
If it was a guy at a President Bush speech, of course, it would be another example of the extremists running our government under a far right wing President.
I don't believe that, but that's how it would be reported.

The guy was being a tool. I didn't see anything wrong with him being tasered, as he was getting belligerent and needed five cops to get him on the ground. As I see it, he earned that one. He's got the best bar story and at least on campus, thug status. He just has to know how to work out the fact that he was screaming like a little girl and he's got babes for the rest of the year.
The moral is simple: If you are being a tool and get tasered for your trouble then you should just accept it and learn not to go that far next time.

There is one major fallicy to your argument:
Nobody with a dissenting opinion is allowed within 2 miles of President Bush and is instead restricted to a "free speech" chain-link fence enclosure type cell.
So it is unlikely that the student would have ever been close enough for that to occur.
Personally, I feel that the student was out of line but his actions didn't deserve tazering.
I'm getting to the point, where I feel that it is time to take the tazers away from the police. Or, they must test the tazers on themselves once per month, so they don't forget what its like when they do it to someone else.

Bush suffocates free speech and dissent wherever he goes anyway.
That's not news.
This student just got too big for his britches and took his own joke a little too far.
So the police tasered him based on the assumption that he was a security threat.

dem: "He was only seeking answers to his question, whatever happened to free speech. Those f*c*ing republicans, they never want to hear from anyone who doesnt agree w/ them. That poor, poor child what did he do wrong besides question the government and thats his constitutional right"
but since it was at a kerry convention.....he got what he deserved!

It won't happen. Bush's political operatives pre-screen everyone well before the event to insure that they're true blue conservatives. Only then do they get tickets. This is beyond the normal security check at the venue.

They would have rioted and demanded a federal investigation into civil rights violations. Then they would have said that the President should be impeached for starting a riot.
