Yes, I do love getting a complement from someone I am crushing on at the time.
TRUE STORY: I was in a class in basic training and this one male instructor was just a dream. I just really adored him. During class one day he asked us (the entire class) how we thought he looked in his new uniform and I said ,' Really good' basically I yelled it..the class stopped everyone turned and my face felt like it was on fire. He said, "I usually get complements like that from the female troops!" then he winked.
I don't think I looked up again the entire class!

He's got a point. Your hair IS awesome. As for the actual question, I wouldn't know. None of my past crushes, or even at least one my homosexual friends, has ever complimented me as far as I know.
