I think Michael Kay is the worst announcer I have ever heard. He is so lame, and so boring. With all of great Baseball personalities out there, is this is the best we can get here?
On SNY for Met games, I can just listen to those guys talk for hours. It's an overall well produced broadcast. But with the Yes Network, I find myself falling asleep, it's just so corny. Even the Yes production and music, it's just all bad. Does anyone agree?

Kay is a play-by-play man and his main duty is to tell the viewers what they are seeing on their TVs. I feel he does about as well as anyone at this. As far as his extra commentary, it's usually not anything I care to hear about, but at least he speaks evenly and quickly. Unlike Bobby Murcer, who drags on with his stories and usually needs help from Singleton to finish the predictable ending to them. My favorite YES guys are probably Paul O'Neil, Joe Girardi and Jim Kaat, but you still need a play-by-play man and I can live with Michael Kay.

The Yankees have too many announcers in the booth for them to develop a rapport with the audience. I mostly watch games on MLB.TV, so I've seen a lot of different announcer crews. The YES team isn't the worst, but for the budget they have, it should be the best. Kay isn't great, but he's not terrible. Of the Yankees color guys, I'd say Singleton is pretty good - he's intelligent and always well-prepared. The others are so-so. Still, the appalling Suzyn Waldman is by far the worst.

Michael Kay sucks. Almost as bad as Joe Buck, Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver. The four of them make up the worst announcers ever. Thank god Ken Singleton or Joe Girardi or Paul Oneil is usually with Kay or I would turn off the sound.

I agree. I live in NC but have the Extra Innings package to watch all the baseball games. I can count on one hand how many times I've made it through more than a couple of pitches on the YES network.
Whoever does the color and play-by-play for 600AM also sucks. Monotonous.

I like Michael Kay. He helps make things interesting.
My only complaint about him is sometimes he gets too enthusiastic for the opposing team.

I agree as do several yankee fans i know, production value is awful compared to many other networks. I also cant stand blatant favortism in broadcasts which YES and Turner BS encourage

I believe people only have room in their lives for one soap opera. You get involved and your heart closes out any others.
You see I have next to zero interest in the Mets and the National League and when I watch their games I'm not drawn in by the story of the season as I am with the Yanks.
Your tailspin is a nice story angle though! ; )

I have never cared for him. He was on a show with Jim Rome a few years back and I see they did not keep him.
