Aquarium salt will help (do not use table salt!!) but you really need to do a 50% water change and treat with rid ick you can get from a pet store. Be sure to remove carbon filters while treating

You use aquarium salt right and not just regular salt correct? Aquarium salt does not get rid of Ich- it just helps with the stress on the fish. You need to turn the aquarium heater up to about 82 degrees for a few days and get a Ick treatment from your local pet store. Ich is a severe parasite and will not go away without a medicated treatment from the pet store. Also, make sure you clean your tank every 2 weeks because poor water quality causes Ich. Make sure you only change 15%-25% of the water with each change, use a gravel vaccum to get all of the excess food/waste out of the tank, and use a water conditioner and bacteria supplement with each water change.

Salt will work as John said, or you can use special ich medications. My comment is this. Four goldfish, at least one is a slim-bodied goldfish, but I'm betting that the "goldfish" is also a slim-body, but, regardless, you have lots and lots of goldfish. You are also mixing fancies with slim-bodies, which you shouldn't do and you are mixing tropicals with coldwater, which you also shouldn't do, and I'm betting that all of these fish are not in a 50-60 gallon tank which they should be, so until you get some of these things straightened out, you are going to continue to have diseases and worries about sick fish. You need to get a couple more tanks and get these fish all separated into proper sized aquariums so you can have healthy water.

Hi Conor, Ich is easy. 1 Tablespoon of sea/rock/kosher/aquarium [not table] salt per gallon of water. Add the total amount you need for you tank in two or three additions over a day or two. This is to slowly bring up the salt level. Keep them in the salt 10 days after the last spots
are seen. If you do water changes only add salt back to the water you replace at the same rate as above.
You'll need to remove your plants and keep them away from your fish for
at least 2 weeks.

yes saltwater additions cure ich faster and safer than medications.
1) move fish to small "hospital tank" and add about a teaspoon of salt per gallon (make sure no gravel in hospital tank)(DONT use TABLE SALT, use sea salt or aquarium salt table salt is harmfull to fish)
2) raise the temperature in the hospital tank about 4 degrees above normal
3) remove the gravel from the origonal tank and throw it away, it contains cysts and juvinile forms of ich
4) also raise the temp of the regular tank to kill of any remaining ich cysts by speedng up thier life cycle and starving them.
5) do 25% waterchanges on the hospital tank daily (make sure it is the same temperature as the tank and replinish salt as needed)
6) leave the fish and repeat water change process untill the white dots on fish dissapear. (wait three to four days after dots go away to makesure they are gone)
notes: when emptuing water from hospitle tank makesure to sweep the bottom of the tank with the gravel cleaner to remove any droped off ich cysts.

Go to a fish store and get the "ich" out solution. It is inexpensive and it does work.
