when i was little i was always told that all of the bunnies in the world helped make and deliver easter baskets

Well, Santa's elves aren't busy at Easter, so I presume the Easter Bunny hires then as seasonal contract workers.

The Bunny eats lots of hallucinogenics and lays the colorful eggs. I don't think you want to know about the chocolate bunnies. I refuse to eat them.

The legend is that the moon goddess Eostre once turned a bird into a rabbit to amuse some children. It laid magical eggs for them. Coloring the eggs is also a reflection of their connection to the divine, being the source of all life. The basket is the symbol of the womb.
Chocolate items are not only yummy, it's symbolic - we take the symbols into ourselves by eating them.

Well the chicks make the eggs, then the ducks,rabbits and lambs do the decorating
