I need to get these core people down, and fully understand what they are before I can learn more of the basics or American Government. Help?

senators and representatives are both congressmen

congress is the senate and the house of representatives

each state is represented in the senate (by senators) for a total of 100 senators

each state is represented in the house of representative proportionally to it's population, a larger state will have more representatives, smaller states less, the total # of representatives is fixed at 435 members

Both Senators and Representatives are Congressmen. The senators sit on the Senate while the Representatives sit on The House of Representatives. Senators serve 6 year terms while Representatives serve 2 year terms. Each state has two Senators and the number of Representatives from each state is dependent on that state's population. The larger the population the more representatives you have........

The legislative branch of the US government is called the Congress. It is divided into to houses: Senate consisting of 100 Senators and House of Representatives totalling 435 people.

Both Senators and members of the House are called Congressmen.
