For what it's worth, my fella has a similar view point as you. He loves wearing the clothes, putting on the make-up etc. but says it's not the sexual side that drives him, it's something deeper.
If it were more socially acceptable I don't think it would change him that much, because in his own words - he likes being a bloke and all the things that go with it.
Instead it may lessen the guilt that close friends & family (possibly inadvertantly) ladle on seeing as cross dressing isn't the norm or standard - which surely would only be a good thing.
Unfortunatly I fear there's a hell of a long way to go before social acceptance reigns.

Actually I don't think it would make much difference. You can go out dressed as a woman now nobody much will bother you. In my case it's also the maid uniforms and loads of people have seen me in those as I have been on TV three times but I still love doing it

I would assume no more than are doing it now but once the social stigma of cross-dressing was lifted, we would see more of it. Kind of like peoples' argument about gays: "they're just EVERYWHERE now!" No, we were everywhere to begin with but now as it becomes more accepted, LGBT people are less afraid to be identified as such in public.
With time, I think cross-dressing's "shock value" would decline as with most cases of habituation. Most certainly, there would still be detractors but as social mores shift there would be less fervor about it.
So get out there and strut your stuff!

I'd dress about the same ammount. ( Thats a LIE ! )
I'd dress more, and go out more. It's not about what other people think.
If enough people do anything it becomes the norm (look at smoking for instance, or the number of people wearing crocks).

I don't crossdress just to be different or to stand out. I crossdress because I really enjoy it. If it was socially acceptable I would still crossdress. I mean I crossdress now and am out in public.. why not after is ok to do it.
(cause it's ok to do it now!)

I think those like yourself who just like womens clothes would continue to wear them, while those who just like the 'naughty' factor would have their fun spoiled
