I'm surprised that no one has mentioned The Doors debut. They took a wide variety of styles, added a lot of varying emotions, and came out with one of the best rock records ever.

Hey, Bohn Johnam - great name!
Actually, Pantera's first album with Phil was called "Power Metal". It sucks big time since it sounds more like Poison than Pantera as we know them today. And they all used to wear makeup & spandex, too! They're so embarrassed by this release that they don't really aknowledge its existence.
"Cowboys From Hell" is a great release, though.
