I hate moveon.org.
Democrat teachers in my school tried brainwashing the children by projecting the site on a screen and reading articles from the site to them.
I support GWB AND the war in Iraq.
I can make this very clear and easy for you to understand.
Take your mom or sister to Iraq and drop her off there for about a month. If she survives the experience, she will have lost probably about 30 pounds, ate food that had bugs in it, had to stay in her house for fear of terrorist bombings, and drank water with live sewage in it.
I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TERRORISM IS ABOUT.
IT GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING WE HOLD DEAR TO OUR HEART AS AMERICANS.
For those of you with your head up your a s s that don't understand WHY terrorism is, LET ME EXPLAIN IT TO YOU.
TERRORISM happens because the psychotic people that used to be in charge FEAR LOSING CONTROL OF THE PEOPLE.
THEY DO NOT WANT WOMEN TO HAVE RIGHTS.
THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR WOMEN TO DRIVE.
THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR WOMEN TO BE LAWYERS, DOCTORS, OR ANY KIND OF PROFESSIONALS.
THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR WOMEN TO VOTE.
AS A MATTER OF FACT, THEY HAVE LAWS THAT ALLOW THEM TO STONE THEIR WOMEN TO DEATH FOR JUST ABOUT ANY REASON THEY CAN COME UP WITH.
THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR CHILDREN TO WEAR JEANS AND LISTEN TO ROCK AND ROLL OR RAP MUSIC. (Like every other country where the people have become FREE.)
One of the big secrets about terrorists is they thought they could bring down the world economy (our quality of life and civilization) by destroying a fair chunk of the world's petroleum distribution system. I guess you don't realize what would happen TO ANY COUNTRY ON THIS PLANET if enough of the oil distribution were interrupted. Besides not being able to drive your car, YOU COULD EASILY FREEZE IN THE WINTER. So for all of the dummies that said Bush only did this for oil, understand that without oil, the world stops turning. So yes, this war did have to do a lot with oil. Take away any country's food and you will have a war. Take away any country's land, and you will have a war. Well, taking away any country's energy source will also cause a war.
BUT THE PART THAT REALLY HURTS ME PERSONALLY, IS THE FACT THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO COME INTO OUR COUNTRY AND DESTROY OUR PYRAMIDS ON SEPTEMBER 11th. (I watched the buildings fall that day. If you didn't, try YouTube.) Over three thousand people died that day. It was America's job to protect those people. The fact that we've been at war for these few years and only lost only a little over 3,000 of our God Blessed soldiers is proof of how well we can fight a modern war. When we were fighting for your grandfather's freedom, to remove the last scourge of the planet, (Hitler), 20 MILLION OF OUR SOLDIERS DIED.
SO YOU COULD HAVE THE LIFE YOU HAVE TODAY.
Keep these facts in mind.
It may take a while, but all the FREE countries of the world WILL REMOVE TERRORISM FROM THIS PLANET.
No matter what they do, or how badly they hurt a few of us, FREEDOM WILL PREVAIL.
TERRORISTS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN THE MODERN ROACH OF PLANET EARTH.
And by the way, to the morons who say we are no safer today than 9/11, when was the last time that American soil was attacked? It seems to me that they are doing a DAMN GOOD JOB protecting us. REMEMBER, the terrorists only have to get it right once, WE have to get it right every time.

MoveOn is not a website so much as it is a grass roots political organization--kind of like the NRA. I've noticed that the NRA has members who do not agree with ALL the positions of the NRA but remain members in good standing nonetheless. So the same would apply to members of MoveOn, no?
If you agree with an organization, you can join and work with it and contribute to it. If not, you don't have to join. MoveOn is primarily funded by contributions from members, and its goals are set by the members. In addition, if a member disagrees with a position they have taken or ad they have placed, they can let them know.
Having said all that, the only objectionable thing most people have mentioned in the ad was the headline. Other than that, it was made up of the General's own words. And the next day, Rudy Giuliani paid for a page in the Times to knock MoveOn and Hillary. Was that OK? Either they both have to be OK or neither. Best I can tell, we still have free speech.

Another con who sees the world in black and white, your either with us or against us, right or wrong, my way or the hightway. MoveOn.org has never been an organization I wanted anything to do with. They do have the right to free speech as guaranteed under the Constitution. They placed an ad in the NY Times and someone, Rudy Giuliani, countered it with an ad of his own that is how it is supposed to work. To harumph around and cry traitor and all that clap trap is ridiculous and those doing it look silly.
The incident happened it is over. Since when is Berkeley California a foreing country? MoveOn is in Berkeley or somewhere up that way. It is an INDEPENDANT political action group. They are not affiliated with anyone other than themselves. From what I have read they have millions of members and growing. They also can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in 24 hours simply through email.
I don't agree with what they called General Petraeus but as Patrick Henery so eloquently put it "Although I may disagree with what you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it".

I neither support nor condone their "message" (though there was an ounce of truth to such a message, unlike some of the outright false spin from Freedom Watch). I simply support their right to freely express their opinion.
People pre-judge others all the time in politics. You know someone long enough it becomes easier to predict what their going to do or say, just as when pundits from both left and right correctly assumed that regardless of the situation in Iraq, Bush will continue with his failing "stay the course" policy.
On a sidenote, contrary to popular rightwing misconception, moveon.org does not "own" the Democratic Party. If so, Dennis Kucinich would be the frontrunner rather than Hillary Clinton.

A political group will always take some positions that an individual will disagree with.
If it's still honorable to stay in the Republican party despite Bush's unjust war and fiscal irresponsibility, then certainly it's still honorable to support moveon despite their criticism of an American general.

I am indifferent to what they said but support their right to say it. Ad hominem attacks are generally counter-productive as this whole episode demonstrates.
Free speech isn't limited to wise or good speech.
I agree no one likes to be pre-judged, but unfortunately, this is often the case.
I have no information that Moveon.org was foreign owned and no information that Petreus is one of our "most honorable" generals. I would guess the former is verifiable and the latter is not. "Honor" is usually subjective.

This is because people do not bother to read such things as the Constitution and don't know or don't care that our freedoms are being taken away by the Liberals.
Bush did not get us into this mess; just read:
"Losing bin Laden: How Bill Clinton's Faulure Unleashed Global Terror" and "Shadow War: The Untold Story of How Bush Is Winning the war on Terror" by Richard Miniter, a fellow at the Hudson Institute.
Me, I served in the Army and have my own ribbons: I support the General.

Any General who is working for Bush is going to support all of Bush's reasons for staying in Iraq (or else he would have "retired" or been fired) so everyone knows exactly what the General is going to say about the Iraq war which is why Moveon.org did what it did. Why let the General get more time telling Bush's story on Iraq. Instead cut him off & make him answer a real question about why US troops are still in Iraq.

I don't bother with web sites such as MoveOn.org nor do I take into consideration the opinion of the Heritage Group...both organizations are too extremist in their views.
Vanilla Troll: too bad you can't get over your Clinton phobia, wish that some of you could actually get it through your head that Clinton (Bill, that is) has been out of office now for almost 2 Presidential terms and the other Clinton will not likely succeed in her quest for that office.
