It depends where you are going to stay. In Algarve is not that bad, it is chilly during the night, the beaches are windier, it doesn't rain much, it is warm enough to walk around in t-shirt and shorts. However if you are going to other areas of Portugal, then the weather is drastically different.
Littoral North (Around Porto, Guimaraes, Espinho, etc) - Very, very wet and cold.
Interior North (In Tras-os-Montes) - freezing cold and wet.
Interior Centre (Viseu, Guarda, Serra da Estrela, Covilha, etc) - Cold and it rains.
Littoral Centre (Lisbon, etc) - It rains (not as much as in North) and it isn't very cold. The weather in this region tends to be milder and even though it rains, the air is drier than in the North region.

Bloody freezing! That's usually when the ice starts to form on windows and the pavements, and sliding around like a right dafty! You wont get much snow in Glasgow during winter, although you really should wear a hat, gloves, and a scarf. Basically, wrap up!

Cold Atlantic breeze in the evenings, day ok, but you will not get burnt. For hot, go to the Canary Islands.

It is quite pleasant on the Algarve, you can even have a dip in the sea without shrivelling up.
