Any combination of names which spell a rude or inappropriate acronym are names to avoid, along with those that have inappropriate or profane social connotations. I have an ancestor who was named Virgil DeWitt- and everyone called him VD !!! ( Those were just his first and middle names- I can't reveal his last name for privacy reasons.) Other combinations to avoid would be something like "Fanny Agatha Garson" because the initials of that spell the word F** which even YA categorizes as profanity. I don't think the use of object names is a good idea either- there are people out there who will tease a child who is named something like" mountain" or "ocean", for example. Lastly, I would avoid names which have multiple meanings, and those names which can be construed to have multiple meanings. Hope this helps.

I don't know if it counts as a "regular," normal name, but I would NEVER name a girl Nevaeh (or any other random word spelled backwards ... what's next Teliot, for the surprise delivery, or Taeskcab, for the place of conception? ROFL).

The worst male offender that comes to mind is Talon. Why in the world anyone would want to name their infant after the killing mechanism of a bird of prey is well beyond me. I certainly don't see the appeal -- unless, of course, they're hoping to raise a tiny little hit man or American Gladiator. ;)

There are entire groups of others, but those were the first individual examples that sprang to mind.

Names like Britney, Keira, Angelina - just because its celeb names. Its a different story if the parent really likes the name. I have also heard of people calling their children names after their fave soap opera character - poor baby!!

Anything that is tremendously outside my culture. Though this didn't stop me from trying to convince my family that her new little girls should be called Keiko.
I also don't like creepy dated names:
Betty, Millicent, Mildred, Sue, Lynn, and so on.

Also, any name that associated with people i intensely dislike in real life, no matter how much I like the name.

well half the names on here i would never even consider naming my child such as olive? velveeta? just because you want your child to be "unique" doesnt mean you can do it in a classy manor jeeze. but some normal names i just dont like for no apparent reason are these:

Molly - it just sounds nerdy to me
Zoey- reminds me of a clown and sounds SOOO stupid
Pheobe
Alexandra- although it is seeming to grow on me
Leticia
Abigail
EMILY!!- cant stand it
Bailey- that is what you name your cat or dog.
Amanda
"Izabella" or any dumb spelling of it just way too common

Nevaeh. To me that is the worst "name" ever. There was a question a couple of weeks ago with someone who wanted to name their baby Nevaeh T'Nes. (I will not insult your intelligence by telling you what it is backwards) Made up names, backwards names and apostrophes in names drive me nuts.

Mortimer is a regular name by the way, awful as it is.

*Isabelle/Isabella (and any other creative spellings) - I have always hated this name. I don't know why. I didn't like it way before it became popular and trendy, and now I like it even less.
*Grace - Same as Isabelle, I guess.
*Veronica - It sounds just bleh to me.
*Gabrielle/Gabriella - I hate the sound of it. Gab and Gabby just have such horrible connotations. Every time I hear Gabby, I think Scabby. Blech.

*Joseph - Not a fan. Not sure why.
*Scott - No personality.
*Gregory - Too many bad associations.
*Brian - I don't like it.
