No. If schools need to hire trained and armed guards, then fine. But not teachers. Schools need to remember they are part of the department of education, not law enforcement.
A teacher doesn't have the experience or judgment of a law enforcement officer. If her ex-husband is the threat, why bring in Columbine to justify her personal agenda.
I think teachers should do as they are trained, teach.
Let those who are trained to do so provide the security.

The schools have overstepped their legal authority in preventing her from exercising her federal and state Constitutional right.
She IS trying to do what she was trained to do, she was trained to use a firearm.
Why not bring Columbine, or Thurston, or Virginia Tech into this...had anti-gun nuts not been allowed to force their fanaticism over others, more people would be alive today.
No one is advocating arming all teachers. A trained, licensed, law abiding person, even a teacher, can prevent the needless death at the hand of someone with no regard for the law, your rights or morality in general.

If you have a concealed weapons permit you can carry a gun, even on campus. There is no law in Oregon or Federally saying otherwise. When you have a vulnerable person or place like students on an unarmed campus evil will take advantage of it. I think qualified staff members should be allowed to carry concealed weapons it could save lives.

In Israel, the teachers are armed...a response to terrorists
attacking ''gun free'' IE, unprotected schools. It's not about the
gun- it's about the training of the gunholder, and the need.
Here's a quote from the link:
"No one knows if civilized nations will ever eliminate the root causes of terrorism. But we do know that terrorist attacks on schools and schoolchildren could be almost completely eliminated in a very short time — if every nation at risk of terrorist attacks on schools began following the lead of Thailand and Israel [ by arming teachers ]."
The best answer ? I don't know; but if she can protect both herself AND her students, it's a good thing.

It's his right. He should. With all the school shootings going on, someone with responsibility should be there armed and ready to protect himself and others. Second Ammendment RULES!!!! Never give up your right to bear arms.

tough call....
on one hand a frustrated teacher who loses it could threaten a student... but on the other hand a trained responsible adult carrying a weapon could potentially save a classroom or school from killers.
