Liberals when you say this war is over oil do you really know how stupid that sounds? Or is this another cheap shot at Bush? This war is having some effect on oil prices but you know damn well Oil is not the reason we are there! Clinton and Carter's own stupidity is the reason we are there ! So instead of sounding or being stupid why don't you open a history book!!! If you don't want to know the truth then stay a democrat but stop blaming your stupidity on Republicans!

100% agree. If it was over oil, rather than attack and remove Saddam we could've just made a deal and bought it from him. He would've been willing.

How funny you blame today's problems on the 12 years a democrat was in office, never mind that in the same time frame the republicans held the presidency for 18 years. Somehow in the 12 years the presidency was held by a republican after the Carter administration, they were unable to right all of the wrongs of the Carter administration. Man that guy really screwed the entire world up in a short 4 years.

Also 6 years after Clinton has left office everything is still blamed on him.

I suggest you step away from the partisan political arena, until after you ahve done some research. But then of course, once you know something you would no longer be a republican.

Crude oil futures just went over $80 because of hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico which temporarily took out electric power to several refineries, and damaged another enough that it had to shut down for repairs. We also have the Venezuelan problem with communist dictator Hugo Chavez.

Despite these facts, gasoline prices at the pump have been dropping, due to the drop in demand as vacation driving season ends. I saw a local Mobil station last night offering regular for $2.44, and haven't even heard Democrats kvetching about gasoline prices in a while, which is a pleasant change.

Aren't you just the friendliest little guy.

It is over oil. You seem to suggest that this has to do with terrorism, but Bush himself proved it didn't. When he went into Iraq and there was nothing terrorist-related (no weapons of mass destruction, no Al qaeda--at least not until after we got in there, but what was there was a government that was keeping Iran in check), Bush proved then that there was nothing having to do with terrorism.

Even if you feel Clinton and Carter messed up in not stopping the terrorists (and evidence suggested that they in fact did do much against terrorism), Iraq had nothing to do with that terrorism.

You also suggest that the fact that oil prices shot through the roof are proof that it wasn't over oil. What it suggests to me is that Bush severely misguessed how we would be received in Iraq. He thought we would be able to access that oil immediately; instead we are having to fight insurgents and death squads over it now. In addition, this adminstration's response to Katrina (and its effect on our oil refineries in the Gulf of Mexico) also served to shoot those oil prices through the roof.

It wasn't Clinton's foolishness. I might also add that the Republicans back then didn't exactly make it easy for Clinton to focus on government business, what with the impeachments and court trials and all. This was the ineptitude of the beneficiaries of Bush's nepotism that failed and thus made oil/gas prices go so high.

The reason they are saying it's because of oil is because Bush/Cheney may have been concerned about Saddam using oil as a way to turn the middle east against the U.S. By invading Iraq, the U.S. would get its foot securely in the Middle East helping the cause for oil. Market forces are dictating the costs of oil as does OPEC. India and China have increased their demand for oil as well as they become more industrialized. It sounds like you need to do some more homework.

What do you think the war is over?
Freeing the Iraqi people?

We went to Iraq to establish a presence in the Middle-east, to protect our interests there.( oil supply).

Don't think for a minute it's about keeping the price down,
the current administrations family monies are in oil, they want the supply flowing, and at a high price.

What do you think Carter or Clinton did or didn't do?
Terrorism? if Terrorism was the issue we would have hunted Bin Laden down and hung him for the crows at the WTC site....

The oil companys are not losing money. I have no heard of one oil company that is going broke. Just the oposite they are experiencesing record profits.
So they raise their price that means they are falling on hard times? That just means they are goughing the public.
This is a matter of Sunni and Shiite won't get along and keep blowing each other up has nothing to do with the USA at all.
They are acting as refrees to a very unpopular war.
I say get out and let them kill each other and buy oil from the winner.

First of all, the war was over after Saddam was captured ann no WMD's were found. So once you get your right brain around that, you realize it is about occupying an oil rich country next to all the other oil rich countries - and (gasp ) the world is running out of oil. But you have to read something besides articles on Lindsay and Britney to get that information, or other articles beside how to seduce little boys while you are a repub trying to preach (gag) family values.

The war is over oil, it's just that Bush is not intelligent enough to relalizee that it's our presence that is jacking the oil prices up.

You definitely now it is about oil, because Bush knows all this price jack up is helping the oil companies, the same oil companies he he and the whole Bush oil clan have always cozied up to.

Wow, I always find that right wing republicans such as yourself never have facts. You only lash out with name calling like a five year old. I would've even be wasting my energy on your ignorant comments but, gee, maybe you can do one thing. READ! Pick up a "real" newspaper or magazine like Newsweek, Time, The Week. Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and watching FOX news! ...or, wait. Listen to Rush, watch FOX and then listen to AirAmerica, CNBC, Keith Olberman and you choose.

I do listen to Rush and watch FOX at times..as much as I can stand and let me tell you I don't see any hard facts. Only generalizations like you are making here. Open your eyes, I beg you!

Lets try a Little fact finding exercise (at risk of sounding or being stupid). Pick a search engine & look for oil co. profits befor 911 & after. While your at it, check out top defense contractors profits as of late. Now ask yourself "what are we fighting for?"
