i guess this question is only for the people who actually listened to them.
and they weren't some one hit wonder, anyone that pays attention knows that not all great bands have mainstream sucess.

Good thing we're all entiled to our opinions. Blind Mellon would be awesome if Shannon Hoon was still alive. One hit wonder or not the song is still played today and is awesome !!

well unified theory sucked butt. it was 2 melon members, a former pearl jam drummer and an uknown singer. horrible record. richard shannon hoon was a great singer and great performer though. with only 2 official studio releases you could get a good idea of what they were capable of. i can't even fathom where they would be today and what music they'd be making.

They were never destined for greatness. The only reason anyone talks about them today is that their lead singer chose to be another drug-related statistic of the 90's. This band got as big as it did because Shannon Hoon sounded a lot like Perry Farrell. However they possessed only a microcosm of the talent Jane's Addiction had.

Put me down with the rest, one-hit wonder regardless of Hoon.

I like Blind Melon, but I think they were destined to be a one-hit wonder. No Rain was too much of a poppy hit song for people to take them seriously carear-wise.

A better question would be how great would Sublime be if Bradley Noel didn't die.

I don't want to sound terrible but they sounded very much like a one-hit wonder band. If Shannon had lived, they might have placed a few more hits on the music charts but they would have faded away soon after "No Rain" and been reduced to playing small venues.

I did not like Blind Melon....maybe the whole bee video was off base. But How good would GNR be, maybe a Chinese Democracy, if Hoon was still with us?

They would probably still hold the same status as they do now, and that is of a one-hit wonder.

Blind Melon's stock rose significantly because of Shannon Hoon's death.

They prolly wouldve sucked, soup wasnt as good as blind melon and the b-side thing they put out was rubbish. I loved shannon hoon though, shame. Only the good die young.

I don't think that they'd be too big nowaday's , you can tell with each album especially Nico, that the energy wasn't the same anymore . Not to say they were bad albums but by 2007 I doubt they'd even still be together.
