Texas Football Fan Nearly Castrated in Bar Fight in Oklahoma Bar
http://www.crimelibrary.com/news/ap/0907/1202_castrated_bar_fight.html
"Thomas told police that when he decided to leave and went to the bar to pay his tab, Beckett grabbed him in the crotch, pulled him to the ground and wouldn't let go, even as bar patrons tried to break it up. When the two men were separated, Thomas looked down and realized the extent of his injuries.
He could see both of his testicles hanging on the outside of his body, said Thomas' attorney, Carl Hughes. He was wearing a pair of white shorts, which made it that much worse.
It took more than 60 stitches to close the wound, and police interviewed Thomas at a nearby hospital emergency room."
OUCH!!

I would think twice about college football, i have seen and been involved in some nasty brawls, people seem a lot more passionate (and drunk) during those games. But anything else sport your colors!

The guy who did this is a rare exception in OU country. This Texas native lived in OKC for a number of years, I frequently wore a Texas Longhorns jacket, sweater, T-shirt or whatever and the most I suffered was the humiliation when Texas lost an occasional game to OU. OU has some of the greatest fans in the country! (Apparently with one exception).

Absolutely.
In fact, I already have...several times.
As a Steelers fan, while living in Cleveland, I sported a Steelers jacket down in the Flats (a downtown bar area by the river) on a regular basis. Never got touched.

I would gladly wear my team colors (Detroit Lions) anywhere. I'll give you an example of how passionate and crazy I am. I went to the Raiders-Lions game in Oakland all decked out in Lions gear. A lot of people gave me #$#$ for it but I just laughed it all off and enjoyed the game. I had a blast, especially since my team won. That's team pride!

Yes for the most part. I don't think most ND fans and ucla fans are violent. You do have to be careful though if you are going into a shady looking bar or the fans look like gangsters then I would exit.

When I go out of town I always take my Steelers clothes to wear.
I would wear it into a bar, but I really don't think anyone would touch me since i'm a girl.
That's a sick story though...

Most people do not take it that seriously. Last football season I lived in San Diego and even though I was stuck in Chargers hell, I store wore my Broncos stuff with Pride, even when they didn't make the playoffs.

I wore a Seattle Seahawks windbreaker to a Kansas City Chiefs football game ... I also had my KC Chiefs t-shirt on.

I wear my jersey all over the place everytime I travel to watch my team play so yeah, I'd be proud and happy to wear it. You gotta represent your team. Who cares about the idiots that wanna start a fight just cause their team lost.

Good natured heckling and ribbing is to be understood, but THAT is just so overboard and disturbing. Makes me want to think twice about that seeing how I don't live too far from Baltimore.
