I'm in 9th grade. I missed Friday, Monday and Tuesday because I've had a bad cold. I couldn't even go to Homecoming Friday.
I know I'm going to have a LOT of homework, a LOT of notes to copy, and a test or two waiting for me when I get back, which should be tomorrow.
How can I make all that work up without falling behind in my classes because everyday the teachers go over something new and important. Please help. I have so much to do!!!!

It is very good that you are so conscientious about your school work. Keep that up.

The other side of the coin is not to worry so much. Excessive worryiong can also b e conterproductive and interfear with your school work.

Now for some specificc suggestions on how to make up work.

1. If you have not already done so exchange telephone numbers from at least two classmaets from each class.
This will ensure that you can get the homework and classwork very promptly.

2. As you know some teachers follow the textbook in order.
You can work ahead for thse classes.

3. You should speak to each of your teachers if you know in advance about your absence. Ask them for the work.

4. If you do not have the work and you are absent, as it appears in this situation, you should speak to each of your teachers. A note from your parent would be a good idea.

5. Some schools provide teachers with web sites where they can post homework and other information.

6. You might want to ask your teachers for a postponement is giving you a test as soon as you rfeturn to school.

Good luck. I think that you are geting off on the right track for your high school education.

First, call your classmates to get the homework and notes BEFORE you go back to school, that way the teachers won't be annoyed with you. If you don't understand something then meet with a teacher. Good meeting times are before or after classes. Just take a deep breath and don't stay up any later the 10:30 pm doing homework, you've just been sick and teachers will understand if you can't get everything completed on a timely manor. Good Luck:]

Go directly to your teachers and ask them what you need to do to catch up. They will tell you what you need to do and may possibly (I would even say probably) cut you some breaks on the assignments. See if you can work out a plan for staying after school or other times to work with them to get the work done. With only three days missed you should be caught up within a week.

I'd say you need help, either from your teachers or a friend you think you can trust and is willing to help you. Just explain the problem to your teachers and ask them to give you the most important points of the lessons you've missed.
