Initially, it's the "first impression."
If it's school or work related, people are evaluated on their "performance."
If it's children, they're evaluated on their "behavior."
We use "time spent together" to help us shape and evolve our impressions of others
If it's people we're socially linked to, we evaluate them on how well they fullfill their role in the relationship. We also evaluate people on how well they fulfill their obligations as parents.
As long as this facet of human evaluation exists as a benevolent undercurrent in society...it's actually a good thing.

Evaluate sounds better than judge! but I think people do it and don't realize it, even the ones who say it's so wrong! I do it and I know I do it, but I have been in some scary situations where it was so necessary. I think if people evaluated every situation or everyone they meet, there might just be less murdering in the world, I think it's a defense mode that we should use, these days anyway.

Evaluate? I know the meaning but the concept is judgemental and that's wrong. Add a d and the word becomes another more dangerous. We have no such right whether we do this or not, it is a flaw in our character to allow such notions. Judge NOT!!!

we usually have a feeling about any person within seconds of meeting them. it's called snap judgement. And people usually show their characters by how they treat others so if its bad then ull naturally asume they will do the same to you..
