I know there aren't a whole lot of actually good sports flicks out there, but which ones do you like best?
I'll have to put in a vote for Slapshot.

The Natural is my second favorite for sure, can't go THAT wrong with Robert Redford! Good call with Rollerball, that movie was all sorts of fun!

My favorite would be Remember the Titans. Also worth mentioning are Rudy, A League of Their Own, Rocky and Raging Bull.

Bull Durham with Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins.
What I like is that while it takes place in the context of minor league baseball, it's actually a love story, and also shows the characters' emotional growth.
It's also very very funny.
2nd choice is The Natural. A couple of things to bear in mind while watching:
-- it bears little resemblance to the original book
-- it's actually an opera, without the songs & music.

Friday Night Lights was a terrible movie. I kept rooting for the running back to blow out his knee, hooray! Rocky 3 was the best sports movie ever. You get Hulk Hogan AND Mr. T in the same movie!

i pick these two because i have connection to both
Friday Night Lights: takes place 90 miles from where i live and my high school (was in the 9th grade at the time) was part of that story (you see them in a play off scene).
The Rookie: My sister dated Jimmy Morris not long before the story line was picked up in the movie. And she nearly got portrayed in a scene that was changed (totaly differnt from waht happened).
