You can most definitely have a PAP done, especially if you know you have an STD and think you may have another; it will in no way hurt the baby.

It is safe to do a pap smear while pregnant as long as the doctor knows your are pregnant. They take special care. Given your situation (which I am sorry to hear about!), it is best you go in to let the doctor check you out and make sure everything is okay for your baby. The pap smear doesn't test for STDs so you might want to take additional tests for those.

I have cervical cancer... It developed between my regular pap and my pregnancy. They found it with the pap performed at my first prenatal visit. Since then I have had a cervical biopsy done (16 weeks) and two more paps to monitor it. They plan on treating the cancer while I am in the hospital after having the baby. They are planning on using the cervical burn procedure to treat mine. Everything should go perfectly fine with the pregnancy and birth since they were able to catch it at an early stage.

We don't know what caused my cervical cancer. I was planning on getting the shot at my next annual, but I got pregnant first. I've been with the same partner for almost 5 years now.

Good luck with everything. The paps are painless - biopsies are a different story. They actually sting a little bit like someone pinching you on the inside.

I had a pap when I was pregnant, because I was due, and I was going to a new doctor. It won't hurt anything. A pap just scraps away a sample to see if the cells in your cervic and surrounding area have changed. You can have a biopsy done to determine if the cell changes are cancerous, but I am not sure if they will do that while you are pregnant. But the pap is fine. My advice would be to speak with your doctor. If you think of questions at home, write them down, take the list with you to the office and ask him everything. I was 18 when I got pregnant, and it was all a little confusing to me at first. If your doctor doesn't seem helpful to you find a new one. Get comfy with your OB/GYN, because this person is going to bring your baby into the world! Good Luck!

It is perfectly safe to have a pap test while you are pregnant in fact i am going to have my 2nd pap smear done in 6 days (because of abnormalities) and I am 36 weeks atm.

Relax it is not a very big deal - it only takes a minute and once you get the results you will be armed with info so you can make informed decisions about your health care and the possible impacts on you child's birth.

Good luck try not to stress over it,

Yes you can. In fact, if you are going to a new doctor or it has been over a year since your last pap your OB/Gyn will probably do one. Both times I was pregnant I had a pap smear done. If you are pregnant you need to get to the doctor ASAP. Especially if you think you have an STD. Some can be transmitted to the baby during delivery.

It is VERY necessary to have a pap smear done while pregnant. It is one of the first things the doctor will do. I assume since you are 26weeks and not had a pap that you have not been to the doctor yet. She will probably treat the infections that you have, if possible to do so without harming the baby. You can transfer STD's on to your baby, so you really need to start the ball rolling with getting treated and taking care of yourself. Also, you really don't know what you have or don't have because you have not had a pap smear. Get to the doctors asap. Good luck

Yes, you can have a pap done while pregnant. There's nothing wrong with it. I had my last one done when I was pregnant because I was due and they MUST know if you have any sort of STD at all because not only is it detrimental to YOU, but it can, in cases, be fatal for your baby if delivered vaginally. I don't think that genital warts were one of the ones that's necessarily fatal, but I'm sure that it can be passed on if delivered vaginally. Tell your OBGYN of your concerns and get the test done, so you and your baby can be healthy.

I didn't have one while I was pregnant, but a lot of doctors will do a pap test as part of your prenatel care. Discuss it with your doctor to see what they think you should do. I know you're scared about what they might find, but it is better to know if there is anything wrong, especially since you are pregnant. And if there is anything seriously wrong, the sooner you find out the better.
