I just had my baby 6 weeks ago and I'm breastfeeding, the last couple of days bright red blood has been basically flowing out. It's not a WHOLE bunch of blood, it's like a lighter period but bright red. Is this a period or something bad?

My period went right back to its normal cycle and I breastfed my daughter exclusively for 11months. NO BOTTLE. If you are concerned call your dr, but you should be fine.

I would get it checked out just to make sure but I got my period while breastfeeding full time at about 4 weeks so it is possible! Congratulations on the new baby!!

you can ge tyour period anytime during breastfeeding but it's a mystery. the last time i bled was around 5-6 weeks now my son is almost 5 1/2 months i and i havent bled since then. you never know what to expect. mnay women go without oeriod until months from weaning. i told my doc at my pp check up that i was still bleeding a little and she told em it was my period but it hasn't been back in months

Are you subing with formula? Is baby sleeping more - not eating every 3/4 hours? These things can cause period to come back sooner. I did the subing with my first and got my period at 2 months post partum.
The second time around I've been nursing with only one bottle. And it's almost three months and no period yet. *keeping fingers crossed*

yes you can have aperiod 6 weeks after having a baby even while breastfeeding. my son is 10 weeks old and i've had 2 periods already.

Yes, that is when my period came after my second, despite breastfeeding. Just proof BFing is NOT effective birth control!

Probably your period, but it wouldn't hurt to check with the doctor. Have you already been in for your postpartum exam? I went in for mine 6 weeks after the baby both times. If you haven't been yet, you probably need to go in anyway.

its probablly your period. I am breastfeeding and got my period at six weeks also. If your really worried you can always check with your dr. but mine said it was my period.

i wouldnt know but i think you should cause thats what my friends sister did but she aint breastfeeding
