I promise myself to talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.
to make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
to look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
to think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
to forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
to wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.
to give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.
to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
to think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.
to live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

There is such a thing as being too optimistic. Do not let your "peace of mind" cloud your reason, or you will start to believe in things that are only half true or illusory. This is dangerous. Instead of being so optimistic that you deny the negative things, just learn to cope properly with the things you find are not "the best". Realism is always the best choice.

I agree with the general idea of what your saying. It is good to have a hopeful and positive attitude about anything and everything, especially towards others. But there will always be suffering. And the world is not always on your side. There are people who are going to use you and screw you over. There are people who would take you for all your worth if they could get away with it. You can't control most of your environment most of the time. Someone very close to you may be killed in a car accident tomorrow and no amount of positive thinking is going to change whether something like that happens or not. But it is how you choose to react to negative circumstances that matters, because that's what you can control. Life can make you a very bitter and mean person by the time your on your last limb. But living for the benefit of others even over yourself is, in my opinion, the best way to put out positivity throughout your life and ultimately will be the most beneficial to you when it comes to whether you end up bitter or happy. All types of situations good and bad are going to happen: therefore there are times to mourn, times to celebrate, times to be angry, times to have fun, times to forgive, - but it's all in knowing how to appropiately react with a positive reaction and a willingness to forgive when wrong is done against you by others that will make the life changing difference in building foundations for a happier life. I believe forgiveness is maybe the most important characteristic to learn. It will keep you from building up anger over years and will benefit those whom you are forgiving in any given circumstance. I suggest forgiving no matter what the wrong was, even murder.

Peace of mind is bound to be disturbed at times. You can make the best out of the worst situation, but it's still gonna be hard while your in the middle of the worst situation.

I think this one is a little easier:
"I promise to do only that which is right."

It's the vow I got ordained on.
