Drive your car away while the nuzle still attached to you car? Well...I did it!!! My first instinct was to run away, the best part of my took over and went inside to tell the guy...Needless to say that I felt like a complete IDIOT! He assured me, that MANY people do that? Was he just being nice? Have you ever done the same?

I used to work as a technician for a service station equipment company. I was the guy that would come a fix the broken equipment. I have replaced probably 1000+ hoses, nozzles, and breakaways.... all from people driving off with it still in their car.

I did worse than that. I drove away without paying & didn't realize it until an hour later when I went to look for the credit slip, then I remembered ! I went back, and they said they didn't even know because it was so busy. Usually they get us to move the car to let other people in, & that day I just drove on home. I paid & they thanked me for my honesty, but I felt like a crook !

I didn't do it myself but one day there was a hundred (okay she only looked that way) year old woman pumping her gas & she got back in her car & the thingy didn't shut off & freakin gas was spraying out and running all over the place! The station attendant came out & the lady didn't have a clue! Scary!*

It happens so often that they came up with a quick release nozzle that will break off of the hose before the hose gets pulled off the pump. When it happens, there is a built in valve that shuts off the flow of gas inside the hose.

A friend of mine did that and didn't even know the the nozzle was sticking out of his car until someone beeped at him, got his attention, and told him to pull over. The funniest story I ever heard. He still has the part of the nozzle. They make them so they break off and shut off, just in case.

lol, I've never done that before. But I saw a guy almost drive off with the nuzzle still attached to his car. We stopped him before anything ripped off. In fact I saw this happen twice. Both times, the person was warned before anything got ripped off.

I've done that. He was being nice though. I was fined with the repair and charged for negligent driving causing harm to others. (Someone was sprayed with gas has when I pulled the hose out of the machine.)

I haven't done it, but one of my co-workers did. The sad part was that we worked at that gas station at that time! It was so funny just because someone that worked there did it. It happens all the time.
