We have had this knowledge for awhile now.

Let's collectively tell them we're not easily fooled and want them to stop warring for something we DON'T need!

There's hydro, electric, solar, wind, etc. etc. etc.

We DON'T need anymore of the oil that doesn't naturally exist in our country!

I'm almost sure_and this is not in jest_that we could all contribute a little if we were to write, phone, or e-mail our thoughts, opinions and suggestions to as many of our elected leaders as we can. I believe it doesn't do any good if we have something to contribute to just keep it to ourselves.

Why don't we contact them? Because we think they will totally ignore us? I don't think they can so easily ignore the majority; can they? They certainly cannot afford this luxury come election time. So I say, PLEASE, let's tell our government leaders how we truly feel. Let's be as constructive about it as we can.

There're a lot of issues that prevent us from using these other power sources, though they should all be put into use as soon as possible. Of course, we cannot simply shift to another source of energy, even in the span of a year. This is something that would take time. But there are a few preventative factors:
1. You would have to replace every car on the road, and while that's possible it would take a long amount of time and have a lot of opposition from car companies. The reason for that is people would have to be able to trade in their cars, but those cars would be unsellable. They could only be used for parts.
2. Oil companies would have a major problem with it. The issue with that is they are tied in with a lot of government officials, many of whom work for these companies. While they may gain something from shifting to other sources of energy, the shift would leave them drained, at least at first. This is something they hope to avoid as much as possible.
3. Industries use a lot more fossil fuels than anything else, and the shift for them would have to be a massive one. Costs incurred would total well above the millions. In the long run, they could stand to gain from it through a lack of continuous spending, but that's not what they look to first.

Every one of these is a reason the process to shift is a long and arduous one. NONE OF THESE is a reason not to start that shift today. Even if some people don't believe in global warming being caused by human beings, the pollution these sources cause is irrefutable. We must act now so that that damage doesn't continue to grow exponentially.

We do have oil. yet, no longer sufficient to fulfill our means needs. through fact of this we import it. i'm afraid that if human beings think of we are able to easily bypass back to our previous wells, and are available across a wealth of oil purely for the pumping, they are badly defective. this is going to cost lots to objective to pump our own oil through fact it will be extra durable to get it out. maximum of our wells are called stripper wells meaning that they strip the final of the oil from the previous wells. Any new wells won't make up for the decline interior the final decline of oil worldwide. we've got here upon countless the oil deposits right here on the North American continent. Mexico is in decline and Canada is attempting to apply the tar sands to offer oil. The tar sands require countless organic gas to warmth the water to bathe the oil out of the sands. then you've a disposal subject with the leftover sand. It nevertheless includes countless oil and it can not purely be dumped everywhere. we can finally might desire to combat for any oil we choose, it has already began interior the middle east, through fact of this we don't choose to go away the area. we are afraid that different countries will are available and take the oil and that could extremely have an result on our economic gadget.

We will stop using oil when the rest of those power sources are practical and cost efficient.

Nothing it free. Hydro power damns rivers and causes problems with fish spawning. Solar power is very expensive and takes huge amounts of land to get any descent amount of power. Wind power kills birds when they fly into the wind mills and oddly enough people don't want to live next to them.

I agree, Kelly - we're not going to end our dependence on oil until the voters turn the damned television off and make our desires known.

But we all also need to get over the "not in *my* backyard" mentality. No one wants drilling or new refineries. No one wants the wind farms nearby.

We checked into converting our electric fences, water troughs and barns to solar, but it's too expensive, unfortunately.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for our continuing dependence on foreign oil.

We've been talking but 'they' haven't been listening. They'll listen when there is money to be made by using the alternative energy sources. It's all about the money... money money money. Why? Because they're greedy greedy greedy. It's the ying and yang of oil and money.

Also, the next time you get your oil changed ask for synthetic oil.

Actually oil does naturally exist in our country-----Texas, Alaska, California, it was first pumped out of the ground in Pennsylvania. There's a couple of wells pumping down the street from where I am in Kentucky.

All of these alternatives have created thousands of jobs and also put billions of dollars into the economy.

Ending our reliance on oil would mostly defund terror and people like Hugo Chavez.

Every time someone comes up with an alternate to oil, they deny the patent and throw it out! They want us to depend on oil so they can control the world

Think of the research on alternative fuels we could have made if all the money spent on this war was used for that.
But the Bushes all own oil wells in Kuwait and want them In Iraq. So that will have to wait.
