hmm....
I'm very particular with the number 8 and anything related to 8 (18, 28, 38, 88....) and as much as possible, in every contest, i would like to have it as my control number....
I think it is good luck....
1. I was 8th honors.....(it's okay...but not good)
2. Division Schools Press Conference, News Writing. 8 was my control number....I won 1st place!
3. Regional Schools Press Conference, News Writing. 18 was my control number...I got 5th place
4. Science Quiz Bee. 8 was my control number....I got 4th place....
Though I'm a Christian, I don't know why I keep up with this silly superstition of mine about 8's...

Superstitions usually come from someones experience and then they spread it around. many times they come from some sort of logical piece but many have taken it further then it should be. Such as do not walk under a ladder. There are many good reasons why you should not do that saftey reasons. Breaking mirrors in the old days mirrors were very expensive and only the rich had them that may be where seven years come from it may have taken that much to pay it off. You can go through many and see that. I would suggest that superstition is mainly folk tales but many have some kernal of truth to them.
I personally do not worry much about them. I live life as who I am and what comes comes and what goes goes.

I am superstitious about everything ,I ever heard as a child ! With the exception of walk on a crack and you break your mothers back.
Over the yrs. I have crossed the road ,turned around just to avoid the danger I saw ahead. (lol) My mother would have never said a word had she known it would stick.

my Nana is very superstitious so i guess i got a lot of things from her like: putting umbrellas up inside the house, putting shoes on a table, walking under a ladder, never cross the path of a black cat, always go out the door you came in, only pick up pennies that are heads up, if your nose itches you will kiss a fool, broken mirrors, i could go on and on. but funny thing Friday the 13th is her good luck day.

After saying something bad might happen i say "toy toy toy"
I don't know where it came from or why I do but I don't even realize I am saying it most of the time. People laugh at me.
Everything happens in 3s. If 2 of my friends break up with their boyfriends i get a little nervous until i hear about another break up. Or if 2 people I know become pregnant I get scared until I find someone else who is pregnant.
Ears ringing means someone is talking about you and nose itching means you are going to get into a fight.

Nothing. When i walk under a ladder or a mirror breaks, or even putting shoes on the table, i do think about it, but it doesn't make me feel superstitious.
Its definately all in the mind. I think we humans have the ability to bring things on ourselves if we believe hard enough. Same for good things. But we mostly tend to dwell on the bad side.

BASEBALL! I'll never mention when a pitcher has a no-hitter going, I watch for patterns and good luck charms. Hey, I would even be willing to wear the same underwear on game day (well, only during the world series!)

For me, it's the number 12. Everything has to add up to 12, and, say for example, I'm in a grocery store.. I'll go to checkout lane 12. It's weird, but I've been like that since I was a little kid.

Even though I am an adult I try not to step in cracks on the side walk, a bad habit I picked up as a child
