climate and erosion in explaining how mountain belts are formed?

Climate and erosion don't form mountain belts, the forces we call plate tectonics form mountain belts. That being said, climate has an influence in certain situations. If a fault-block mountain formed and a basin formed adjacent to the mountain, with constant erosion wearing down the mountain and sediments accumulating in the basic changes the isostatic relationship between the two features. The extra sediment load in the basic causes the basin to grow deeper, which in turn causes the mountain to grow higher. In a situation without this erosion the mountain/basin system would not change much.
