Doing a class project where we have 100,000 to invest in the stock market (virtual) as a group and leaving 10% aside for us individually. I have never before paid attention to the stock market, and therefore do not know what to look for or buy, can someone give me some pointers?

Look for some companies that have been around for a couple of years and look at their history. Unless you are an aggressive investor, pick the ones that have been on a steady incline for the past 6-12 months.

Look up Malcolm Berko on the web. He writes great investment articles and makes good recommendations.

buy high sell low. thats a fair rule of thumb. if you buy a share at 7 bucks and sell at 12 then thats good. just ride the coaster. basically you dont lose money even if the share drops. if it goes from 7 to 5 you havent lost anything unless you sell at five. wait for it to go back up and then sell it.

Invest in Central Fund of Canada (CFC). They invest in gold and silver bullion. Gold is going to go to the stratosphere as the US dollar collapses.
