Im not claiming to be the smartest or most intelligent person in the world but Im one of them. It seems that being educated has its pros and cons. The cons being that you notice just how ignorant most people you come in contact with. Also I think that most governments rely on the majority of its populations to remain studpid so that economies flurish. The pros of being educated are that you have the ability to kow right from wrong and eventually get out of the rat-race and be financially secure. Your thoughts.

Lol..well that proved my point! I really wanted to see who would take offense and who would actually answer the question without taking it personally. Well it seems some of you are stupid. By the way I did hit spell check so its not my problem. Im really looking forward to an intellectually based answer as opposed to cynical ones. Now wheres that spell check again...?

If the number of stupid people, such as bigots and fundies and free market capitalists, in this forum is any indication, then yes, there are a lot of ignorant people in the world.

Your statement, "...I think that most governments rely on the majority of its population to remain stupid...," is correct. The government doesn't want workers who are smart enough to see how bad their working conditions are, much less smart enough to realize they have a right to organize and protect unfair treatment. Why do you think the public schools have gotten worse over the last few decades? It's because the government has a vested interest in dumbing down the schools, specifically by cutting funding to schools, in order to keep the next generation of workers stupid and in the dark.

Your conclusion, however, that this is done,"...so economies can flourish...," is incorrect. It's not simply for the sake of the economy; it is primarily so the wealthy elites that make up 2% of the population, but own 98% of everything can continue to grow wealthier, even as the rest of us suffer.

those who are truly intelligent, and not just educated, know better than to make the assumptions you have made here.
Such as ignorance indicating stupidity, it doesn't. As for governments relying on keeping it's population ignorant, do you have any idea at all how much governments put into educating people who want education? Obviously not; there is no support whatever for your claim regarding governments and a great deal to show the claim false. Knowing right from wrong was taught to you by your parents, not by the educational system, and is something that a vast majority of people know as well. As for getting out of the rat race, and being financially secure....that takes ambition, not necessarily intelligence or education..take a look at our President.
It seems to me, you have a great deal of maturing you need to do.

No they are not. If you're trying to figure out how to pay the doctor bill, you become too stress for your brain to function at peak efficiency and can appear less intelligent than others. There's difference in being educated and intelligent. Too many people in this world are struggling just to survive and education isn't a real option. The lack of good education, among other things, is a method governments use to keep people down and themselves in power. Which is true even here in the good ole USA despite all the rhetoric. There are so many factors involved that I'd be careful before judging others.

Wow, it could be so many things ... Do you play fantasy themed games perhaps? Amazing how many things get stuck in the subconscious. Or watch a lot of sc-fi movies? The other explanation, if you believe in these things, is that your ancestors could have dabbled in the occult and these things have been given a back door to come into, but this is not that common. The last explanation is stress. Stress can you make and experience strange things, even hallucinate.

The average American has an IQ of 100 which is average for the Us so why does that make us stupid, at least we move on when our towns are flooded not just rebuild in the same place and pray to Gord or Aller to divert the flood waters

Absolutely not. There are people on the Earth who are diverse. This set-up was purposefully originated by GOD himself. Thus, I will personally make an effort to "respect" all that GOD has created. What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the GOD of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless.

I think that the more you learn, the more you realize you NEED to learn. It is not very helpful to your education OR your karma to look down on those who did not have the same opportunities you have. Also, I have met an awful lot of people who have educations and they are the most ignorant people I know.

My thoughts on that is that you are obviously opinionated, bigoted, voluble, narrow-minded, partisan, prejudiced, biased, rigid, unaware, uninformed, ill-informed, unfamiliar, oblivious, unconscious, unknowing, unwitting, unenlightened, in the dark, inexperienced and last but not least, a total idiot. Questions like your only go to prove you lack of complete intelligence. GET YOURSELF AN EDUCATION. By the way, my I.Q. is very high, and I don't need to ask questions like this to prove my intelligence.

No, as I tell my students, you choose smart. As for government, just think of all the people who sent books to the White House when the current president was elected so he could maybe increase his intellect.

No. All people are ignorant about somethings, and that might cause others to "think" that they are stupid, but all and all, I'd have to say most people in the world are intelligent in their own way.

Cheers!
