If rabbits eat rabbit food, how come they are so fat & chubby? Isn't rabbit food supposed to be healthy & light?

They have a lot of skin folds, a dewlap under the chin (particularly in the case of female rabbits) fur and floof, and a lot of the rabbit food mixes are rather fattening.

Same thing with guinea pigs, except guinea pigs look chubbier because they have a long rib cage and very small limbs.

I've never seen a wild, fat rabbit. It's the ones who sit in a cage all day and get no exercise. Running for your life from predators will burn that fat right off you.

the idea of "you eat like a rabbit" is about eating little and often, not about the actual food

When I say it I mean the way they chew their food.

They are pretty healthy for eating just vegetables.
