I recently discovered the most fantastic product ever. It takes out stains that Mr Muscle (and every other cleaner!!) leaves behind (I've compared them!). This works on almost anything - worktops, sinks, china, glass - it even removes rust from chrome!
This miracle powder is called Bar Keeper's Friend. It's sold in a smallish, conical shaped plastic container. The bad news is that so far I haven't found any place but Sainsbury's that stocks it! Someone should tell the manufacturer that it has the wrong name, it sounds like something only aimed at pub landlords. Truly, it's amazing stuff, they should advertise it on TV!
Do seek out this stuff, and good luck with your worktop!

I wet the surface of the counter, sprinkle liberally with Bar Keepers Friend and let sit about 5-10 minutes. I come bact with a toothbrush or 3m scrubber and it comes right out. I use it on my tea and kool-aid stains on my formica counters.

I use a spray kitchen cleaner that contains bleach I think it's Flash. I try to use the sponge part of a washing up sponge firstly and if stain still doesn't come off I then use the other side of the washing up sponge which is a scouring pad and this always does the trick.

I would try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (if this is a Corian or Formica surface.)
You may have to re-do it a few times.

Make the worktop wet. Then sprinkle dishwasher powder over it. (If you use the all-in one tablets, take out the bit in the middle and crush the rest) Leave it for about half an hour and you'll find that tea, coffee and fruit stains disappear.

Simple green works great because it breaks down the tannins in tea that make it brown.
