I am going to plant watermelon seeds in my yard.
Where should I put them... By the house, where they are shaded from morning sun?
Under some trees, where they are shaded from afternoon sun?
Or as out in the open as possible?
I live in Bonita Springs Florida Which is a zone 10 area

Watermelon vines need to be in full sun to develop as much sugar as possible as the fruit matures. I've seen them growing out in the scorching heat in Texas, and they do just fine.

Enjoy!

Your watermelon vines need plenty of sun and plenty of space. The vines should thrive in full sun and produce sweeter fruit. Keep in mind that the vines can spread out several feet, so allow plenty of room.
