Add to the military expediture the increasing price of oil and it is no wonder the number of home foreclosures has doubled since August of 2006. The economy is not collapsing but the cost of living is increasing, and the majority of Americans will undoubtedly be negatively affected. You see evidence of this even in supermarket prices, which spiked noticeably in June at least in my area of the country. There is an ecomomic cost to the American people largely ignored by pro-war supporters. I'm just glad it's becoming more apparent now while Bush is still in office rather than when someone else is in the president's seat to take the blame. What's even more tragic than the inflation is that there really is no evidence that any of the billions upon billions spent on war in Iraq and Afghanistan has made the U.S. safer from a future 9/11 type disaster.

It sounds like you're trying to spin the recent downturn so that it blames the president.
First, it's not collapsing. A true collapse would have you cowering in your basement. This is a downturn, but it's not a recession.
Second, the problem is due to the mass defaults on the subprime mortgages that were sold in recent years. That dried up a big chunk of the available credit in the market, and made it harder to borrow. That drives up the cost of doing business, putting the brakes on the economy.
