x Intercept

y = - 2x + 4

Transpose y

y - y = - 2x + 4 - y

Collect like terms

0 = - 2x - y + 4

Transpose 2x

0 + 2x = - 2x - y + 4 + 2x

Collect like erms

2x = - y + 4

Divide both sides of the equation by 2

2x / 2 = - y / 2 + 4 / 2

x = - 1/2y + 2. . .←. .x intercept

Plug in the y values

- - - - - - - s-

Remember, y=mx+b and x=my+b, where m is the slope, and b is the intersection point. To find the y-intercept, you must solve for y: 2x-y=8 -y=8-2x -y=-2x+8 y=2x-8 Here, the slope is 2, and the y-intercept (0, -8) To find the x-intercept, you must solve for x: 2x-y=8 2x=8+y x=y/2+4 Here, the slope is 1/2, and the x-intercept is (4,0) So, your second option would be correct!

the equation give is in the slope intercept form...

but it shows the y intercept...

we can rearrange that to form it in a equation where the x intercept is shown...

y = -2x + 4

y -4 = -2x

x = -1/2 y + 2

where:

2 is the x intercept

The x intercept is where y = 0 (the x-axis). So, when y is zero, -2x = -4 or x is two.

Just set y = 0 and solve for x
0 = -2x+4
2x=4
x=2
The x-intercept is (2,0)
