There are three gas stations at the intersection and this Exxon guy sells the gas at 10c higher per gallon than the other two.
And Exxon is as busy as the other two.And most cars at exxon are regular economy cars..
Why dont people reject this crap?

Maybe they know you americans have it so easy on fuel prices.

Norway, prices are about $2.13 per LITRE, not per gallon
UK, about the same

Maybe they have Co fuel cards for Exxon
Maybe they fancy the staff

There are many reasons to buy stuff and accept a higher "face" price. Maybe they have a brand of chocolate they prefer, or other incentives

Octane ratings and of course incentives for having an Exxon card or Speed Pass. He may also be on the most convenient corner, closest to neighborhood traffic, etc. Most people aren't going to sit in a turn lane or the extra time it takes to cross traffic just to save a few dimes.

Two reasons in my opinion. First, many people still believe paying more actually gets you better gas. My car had 200K miles on it and I ALWAYS bought the cheapest gas available, usually ARCO, and NEVER had any fuel related problems.

Second, there are the snobs with their BMW's etc, that wouldn't be seen in a discount filling station.
