When the state provides all your needs, why should you look for a job? Are we now are we coming to realize that the “benevolent paternalism” of a LIBERAL Nanny State government does more harm than good? Has anyone seen our inner cities that vote democrat in return for more 'goodies'?

Maybe it reminds them of when they were kids, Parents constantly wiping up after them and giving them tiny allowances.

Personally my parents raised me to be self sufficient and made me earn my own way.

They don't, but all the things you list have positive, capitalist results. Why should my health premiums go up because Citizen A (not me) is a fatass or has heart disease, doesn't wear a seat belt or helmet and the list goes on. I don't mind people dieing of stupidity: that's Darwinism, but why should I have to pay for it? The examples you site paint a good picture of the philosophical divide. Its not that liberals like paying taxes or increased regulation, its that in some cases that is a better option than the alternative. Would you rather get taxed 30% on an $80,000 salary, or 10% on $20,000? Sometimes taxes are a good investment, and sometimes regulation reduces the cost we all pay for uninhibited idiocy. I'm a moderate BTW.

THIS is too easy to answer...

This is too easy to answer. FIRST RULE OF LIBERALISM: THERE ARE NO EASY ANSWERS.

They are Marxist/Socialists. I SUPPOSE YOU'LL SEND THE SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS BACK AND THAT YOU'VE NEVER DRIVEN ON A PAVED STREET

They want YOU to turn over all control and all the powers and liberties guaranteed to you by the Bill of Rights so carefully crafted by our brilliant Founding Fathers. They want an all powerful and potentially tyrannical central government. READ THE PATRIOT ACT AND THE MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT THAT THE RIGHT-WING GAVE YOU. YOUR RIGHTS ARE ALREADY GONE.

The results will be a Dictatorship. BUSH ALREADY HAS AN OUTLINE FOR MARTIAL LAW

Most important is Socialized Medicine. DON'T YOU MEAN "CIVILIZED MEDICINE"?

If you don't like it, they'll have a pill for THAT too. AND RUSH LIMBAUGH WILL BE GETTING THEM FROM HIS HOUSEKEEPER

Your money is power. AND THE OIL COMPANIES ARE THE MOST POWERFUL ENTITY IN THIS COUNTRY BUT YOU KEEP GIVING OVER YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO THEM!

NEVER vote for anyone who wants to raise taxes, LORD KNOWS IT'S OBVIOUS WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE SCHOOLS!

limit free speech, JUST LET THE BUSH FCC DECIDE WHICH FEW HUGE COMPANIES SHOULD CONTROL ALL THE MEDIA

add to gun controls, BRING BACK PERSONAL OWNERSHIP OF ABRAMS TANKS, WE'LL ALL BE SAFER

violate property rights TO BUILD MILITARY BASES

or dilute the power of your vote by permitting fraudulent voting through "motor-voter", voting by convicted felons, illegals or restricts the demand to identify yourself at the polls CHANCES ARE THAT, AS AN AMERICAN, YOU PROBABLY DON'T VOTE ANYWAY, SO WHAT DO YOU CARE?

Ann Coulter, is that you? When there were unions we did not need the Nanny State because the working man had a voice. Since Reagen basically killed the unions there is no one able to stand up to big business. And big business gets welfare from the government in the shape of relaxed regulations and tax abatements. Very few people want to government to hand them gifts on a platter but they do need a level playing field.

it sure is a nanny state for big business. these businesses suck up the most resources and pay the least in taxes. the government gives them tax breaks to outsource as much as possible, subsidices their industries, fights their wars. while the people get suckered into paying with blood, sweat and tears.

Simple - they need the largest voting bloc to be a large dependent class that has to vote for them for its next meal.

They don't have that anymore, that class has dwindled over the last 25 years - which is why they're trying to replace it by granting amnesty and citizenship to the illegal immigrants, who now comprise most of the poor people.

Bush has increased social spending during wartime.

Is largely pro-censorship and pro- mixing religion w/ Govt.

Has created record defits and war bills that will take decades to pay off.

So WHO is for big Government????

You know, just once, and I really mean JUST ONCE, I would so love to see one of you people touch on bush's insane, outrageous SPENDING for eight years instead of the "nanny state" or the "high taxes" ragged, pitiful diatribe.

When a Republican in office SPENDS MONEY WE DON'T HAVE, please, please, please tell me....

WHERE IS IT GOING TO COME FROM?

My taxes are way too high now. 1/4 of my paycheck is going to the govt. for whatever the heck they are doing. That is too much and must be reduced ALREADY or you WONT GET MY VOTE.
