There is only ONE definitive answer to this question - a song that must be forever banished from the collective human consciousness (and believe me I do NOT say that so easily about any other piece of music):

"We Built This City on Rock 'n' Roll" by Starship - somebody hand me the barf bag PLEASE (BTW: it sounds like the only thing these quintessential examples of mediocrity don't have is a star ship LOL):

"Whoomp, There It Is". It has got to be the most annoying song in history. I have to give props to all that said "We Built This City" and to the person that put "Achy Breaky Heart" on the list...Kudos
SO many to choose from. such a sad thought that there are that many terribly bad songs. Does any body remember "Informer...licky boom boom down"?

Pick any song from "insane clown posse", and you got yourself the worst song ever in history.

In MY opinion it has got to be The Bloodhound Gang's "Animal Kingdom" song and/or Sir Mix-a-lot's "I Like Big Butts."

"Who's Johnny?" by El Debarge from the movie Short Circuit.

It was a pivotal moment for me when I moved from loving popular music to intensely loathing it. This might have also had to do with the fact that I grew my hair longer, started riding a skateboard and began listening to punk rock music around the same time (mid to late 80s).

^ That's I Got It From My Mama by Will.I.Am. He use to be in The Black Eyed Piece. I kinda like that song because it's funny.

Anyways, The Barbie girl song.
