The slope of the given line is (- 1/3); therefore the slope of a line perpendicular to the line would be 3. Substitute into the point slope form and get y+5 = 3(x -9) since there is no fractions remove ( ) and then put into the form you want it. Probably Ax + By = C.

The slope of the given line is -1/3 so slope of line perpendicular to it will be -(1/-1/3) = 3
So y = 3x + b
Since the above line passes theough (9,-5) we have:
-5 =3(9) + b --> b= -32
So equation is y = 3x -32
Instadard form we have 3x - y -32 = 0

x+3y=12 and passing through (9,-5)

3y = -x + 12

y = - 1/3 x + 4
slope of this line is - 1/3

slope of a perpendiculare line is +3/1 = 3

y = mx + b

-5 = 3(9) + b

b = -32

y = 3x - 32 ---> slope intercept form

3x - y = 32 ---> standard form
