Hi, I've been to different chinese malls and restaurants in north america and asia.. most of the time they are not well maintained..its always dirty , filty and smelly. Is this a cultural thing?

Cultural thing? I think so too. And I have the same observation about their houses, kitchen and bathroom are the same although, the kitchen is more sticky.

I think those are just the conditions that Chinese nationals are used to. I know a large part of China is rural and they don't even have indoor plumbing. So for them, having dirty filthy indoor plumbing can be a luxury. I think a lot of this is because they don't have good public health departments in Asia and health codes aren't really enforced over there.
If possible, I would try to go to the most upscale malls in Asia. Those are the ones that should have decent facilities.

I have traveled all over China and found things to be the same, absolutely filthy in any public place, I actually went into the toilets once in a restaurant in Beijing and a couple where holding a baby over the sink so it could have a ****!!! I have been around the Middle East a fair bit too and found it too be the same there, especially in Egypt.

Kinda yea. I mean sanatizing doesn't hold the same meaning for all people. I think Americans are fairly germaphobic but other cultures aren't so much. If you're not taught to clean the bathroom until it's necessary than you just don't do it.

How odd!! Here the Chinese restaurants facilities are always without fail, spotless!! And I'm a dreadful picky mare about things like that!!

personaly i dont know but ive eaten at chinese restaurant that have been shut down by health inspectors due to "unsafe practices" (cookin the neighborhood cats) so at this point it doesnt really mater

I've been in Chinese washrooms in Asia that were so nice I wished they were my apartment.
