I don't like using moth balls because the odor is way too strong. I don't want anything too smelly either because I don't want my clothes to stink. Thanks.

I use the cedar blocks because they are easier to maintain than the balls or lining the closet. You can drill a hole in them and hang them over the rod. Once they stop smelling, they are easy to lightly sand and treat with more cedar oil allow them to dry and hang them up again. I got a set of 12 at Bed Bath & Beyond over 10 years ago and only have to re-treat them every couple of years.

Keep your clothes clean. Obvious with washables...others get to dry cleaners. Moths vector in on body oils and stuff in clothes. Also clean closet, paying special attention to baseboards, carpeting and shevles. Clean drawers, wipe them out. You are trying to eliminate hiding places and eliminate body odors.

Finally, keep the clothes in air tight containers and bags.

The best way , and also priciest, is to cedar line your closet. You can also buy cedar balls from home depot or target. Or buy a cedar chest

hang sachet bags (nylon net works well) filled with aromatic herbs such as lavender in your closets and in your drawers.

any herb you like the strongish smell of works well. I happen to like lavender!
